Job Description

As a Food & Beverage Supervisor, you have the authority to exceed guest expectations by creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that coincides with our “we’ve been expecting you” sense of arrival for our guests. Your role is very important because you are your team's leader, teacher, and role model. Additionally, you will lead your people to make business decisions that are focused on upholding the highest standards in guest service while delivering against key financial goals and performance metrics.

Key Focuses

  • Maintains a friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor during all guest encounters and responds appropriately to guest requests and complaints.
  • Understands that effective and cohesive communication between departments is vital to the hotel’s operation.
  • Ensures the restaurant, public areas, server stations, and storage areas are “picture perfect” for optimal first impressions.
  • Leads and supervises the Food & Beverage team, including servers, bartenders, attendants, and other support staff.
  • Provides the Food & Beverage team with resources and feedback required for their continuous development.
  • Develops excellent product knowledge about the menu and feature items and can answer any inquiry.
  • Maintains accuracy and attention to detail when taking guest orders and entering information into the POS system.
  • Manages cash transactions, processes payments, and provides accurate cheques to guests. Prepares itemized cheques and collects payments from tables.
  • Assists in coordinating and supervising events, banquets, and special functions to ensure successful execution.
  • Ensures responsible service of both food and alcohol. Follows all local and provincial health & safety, food handling, alcohol service and video lottery terminal laws.
  • Protects self, co-workers, and guests against safety hazards; reports immediately to the supervisor on duty.

Experience/Passions/Education

  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
  • ProServe certification is required.
  • 6 months of hands-on experience in a serving position.
  • Tech savvy.

Working Conditions

This position may work dayshift, afternoon, or evening shift any day of the week or weekend with long days to meet periodic upturns in business demands or meet deadlines.  This position is set in a fast-paced and, at times, high-pressure environment that requires continuous physical movement, the ability to lift up to 30 lbs., and the ability to manage multiple sequences and demands. There may be periods of independent work and changes in temperature from the back to the front of the house.
