The Role:

Reporting directly to the Manager of Safety and Security, the Safety & Security Guard’s role is to assist the resort in maintaining the security and safety of all facilities, 1,000+ guests and 300+ employees in three properties, three residence complexes, and one leased public building. The Safety & Security Guard role will include, property foot patrols, vehicle patrols, compiling daily shift reports, acting as a designated first aid provider, and enforcing hotel and residence rules and regulations.

Although safety is always the number one priority, this role acts as an ambassador to our guests regarding all aspects of customer service. Conveying a friendly, positive demeanor at all times is essential for this role.

As a safety and security guard, you will also act as first responder on site to any & all emergencies, working in coordination with other departments and outside agencies to resolve threats to the safety of guests, staff, and visitors within Kananaskis Village. You will also be required to participate in fire training sessions and Health and safety meetings.

Job Duties:

  • Conducting routine foot and vehicle patrols 
  • Providing first aid to guests and staff
  • Acting as a member of the fire response team
  • Participating in Health and Safety meetings
  • Conducting monthly audits for first aid kits, eye wash stations and fire extinguishers
  • Completing incident, first aid and daily hotel and residence reports
  • Interacting on a daily basis with guests and staff

Employment Experience and Educational Requirements:

You will be considered for this role if you have all of the following experience: 

  • Must be licensed in Alberta with the Solicitor General as a Security professional
  • Must have a Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent
  • Must have a valid Standard (Intermediate) first aid with level C CPR certificate from an accredited Canadian agency (St. John Ambulance or Red Cross). Priority will be given to candidates who hold a higher level of training from a Canada accredited program such as Advanced First Aid or EMR
  • High school diploma. Post secondary education is desirable
  • 2 – 3 years prior security experience, ideally in a public setting
  • Must be computer literate, preference given to individuals with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
  • Ability to walk for long periods, sometimes in very cold or very hot weatherThe below soft skills will be an asset for the role:
    • Prior experience with conflict resolution
    • Ability to stay calm under pressure or in high pressure situations
    • Exceptional interviewing techniques, note taking, and report writing
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Ability to communicate in a second language is an asset
