Summary

Join the Fort St. John (FSJ) Chances Casino Team.  FSJ is the largest city in the Northeast Region of BC, situated on the Alaska Highway; its population is 21,000.  It offers a great variety of cultural, leisure, and outdoor experiences.

FSJ is a resourced-based community with oil, natural gas, forestry, and agriculture.  The average age of residents is 8.8 years younger than the average population.  The median housing price is $419,000—the average commute time to work is ten minutes.

In this role, the Security Manager will be responsible for the overall operations of the Security department and assist in the Surveillance department when necessary.  The primary focus is to provide leadership and mentoring support to the departments’ supervisors while maintaining the highest gaming integrity standards in the industry.  They will foster great relationships with other departments and business entities.  It consists of 150 slot machines, including e-tables, 6 Table Games, and 2 Poker Tables, and it desires to grow. You will also assist the team in a large-scale Food & Beverage operation, including 5 banquet rooms and a full-service restaurant.  Managing a property with a 2400-person seating capacity will be no small feat.  

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the security team to ensure an exemplary guest experience
  • Ensures the physical and safety aspects of the facility
  • Cultivate and maintain a strong working relationship with BCLC, GPEB and local enforcement authorities
  • Staying abreast of changes to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and facilitating the flow of information between departments
  • Maintain and develop internal policies and procedures in compliance with SOPs
  • Assist the General Manager with on-site compliance

Skills, Qualities, & Abilities Required:                                                                                                                

  • A Leader with strong communication and critical thinking skills
  • Flexible with a desire to solve problems
  • Minimum three years of management experience in a related security field
  • Proven to be detail-oriented, reliable, punctual, efficient, and diligent in duties and responsibilities
  • Strong ability to follow policies, procedures and practices
  • Must enjoy entertaining and communicating with the public

Experience, Training, Certification, & Education:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Outstanding customer service & interpersonal skills
  • To obtain a Gaming Policy Enforcement Branch (GPEB) license
  • Previous gaming experience using casino surveillance equipment will be a strong asset
  • Minimum of level 1 first aid
