Job Description

As the Assistant Maintenance Manager, you have the authority to exceed guest expectations by creating “picture perfect” guest experiences throughout the hotel. You will assist the Maintenance Manager in ensuring the smooth operation of all maintenance activities within the hotel premises. As an Assistant Maintenance Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the physical condition and appearance of the hotel, contributing to the overall guest experience. Key Focuses

  • Supervision and Coordination: Collaborates closely with the Maintenance Manager to oversee and coordinate all maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Team Management: Assists in managing a team of maintenance technicians and ensures they are properly trained, motivated, and equipped to carry out their duties efficiently.
  • Routine Maintenance: Conducts regular inspections of the hotel's facilities, equipment, and systems to identify maintenance needs and address them promptly. This includes HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, guest rooms, public guest space, outdoor areas, and onsite amenities, including pool/hot tub and back-of-house areas.
  • Guest Satisfaction: Prioritizes guest satisfaction by responding promptly to maintenance requests and resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner, minimizing disruption to guest experiences.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinates with external vendors and contractors to procure materials, supplies, and services required for maintenance projects, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Budget Oversight: Assists in managing the maintenance budget effectively, monitoring expenses, and identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising on quality or safety.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Implements preventative maintenance measures to ensure ongoing reliability and longevity of equipment and facilities. This includes scheduled inspections, cleaning, and replacing parts as needed.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards governing maintenance operations within the hotel premises. Implement safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for staff and guests.
  • Documentation: Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, equipment manuals, and warranty information. Generate reports as needed to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Training and Development: Supports the ongoing training and development of maintenance staff, providing guidance, coaching, and feedback to enhance their skills and performance.

Experience/Passions/Education

  • Requires a strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry concepts.
  • Previous certification or hotel maintenance is an asset.
  • Ability to compute and manipulate mathematical calculations.

Working Conditions

This position may work long days and/or weekends to meet periodic upturns in business demands or meet deadlines. This position is set in a fast-paced environment, that requires continuous physical movement and the ability to manage multiple sequences and demands.  This position will require periods of independent work and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
