Summary

In this role, you will provide leadership and guidance to the Banquets team under the supervision of the Director of Food & Beverage, creating inspired and memorable experiences for our guests.  You will execute banquet events that match the brand experience, ensuring quality, delivering every time and making decisions focused on upholding the highest standards in guest services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Motivate and inspire the banquet team with a hands-on, lead-by-example approach
  • Set function space according to the BEO, diagram or as instructed by the Manager
  • Lead pre-shift meetings before functions to learn event particulars, including guest and hotel expectations
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact with the Sales & Catering Manager
  • Establish rapport with meeting planners while promoting hotel/casino facilities and services

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities Required:

  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Reasoning abilities; analytical and critical thinker
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.  Must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas
  • Manager labour hours
  • Maintain a clean environment for our guests, including carpet care, window washing, table cleaning, etc.

Experience, Training, Certification and Education:

  • Previous banquet experience in a hotel environment is preferred
  • 1 year of supervisory experience and a similar role is an asset
  • Teamwork approach and a helpful attitude with co-workers
  • BC Food Safe certification is an asset
  • Computer/Microsoft Office knowledge
