We are looking for a Chief Engineer to join our Canadian Rocky Mountain Resort. This is an exciting leadership role with excellent compensation, perks and growth.

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing major mechanical systems, preventive maintenance programs, and physical guestroom product, and directing employees within the scope of the engineering division. We are seeking a leader with a proven record of performance within an engineering role / commercial building maintenance role.


THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct daily walk through and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel and residence buildings, including the grounds (this also includes all mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems and any other related equipment)
  • Direct employees within the scope of the engineering division who assist with the ongoing maintenance of the hotel’s physical plant, assign daily tasks and projects
  • Ensure a comprehensive preventative maintenance program is effectively implemented and maintained
  • Ensure that an effective team is developed that works together as a unit, ensuring all aspects of an assigned task are completed in a timely manner and to the highest quality standards
  • Ensure that the physical plant is maintained to the highest standards and in a safe manner by utilizing the services of highly qualified and quality-oriented suppliers
  • Identify and prioritize organizational objectives, ensuring that the engineering and maintenance process is continuously improved through the use of ongoing evaluation and problem-solving teams
  • Be a key resource in the recruitment, selection and training of maintenance staff members
  • Produce accurate forecasting and budgeting, financial reviews, expense tracking and other fiscal activities
  • Hands-on/lead by example approach with day-to-day engineering duties and/or projects as required


THE KNOWLEDGE:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a progressively senior role of responsibility with strong knowledge and understanding of the Engineering and Maintenance Process
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is a definite asset; qualified candidates should possess their 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate at minimum
  • Experience in preventative maintenance, energy management, fire safety, and health and safety
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Recognized team player and a self-starter with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to train, coach and develop associates in an entrepreneurial and progressive environment
  • Computer knowledge required
