Revenue Manager

Based in our regional office in Calgary, this position will have the opportunity to remotely support one of our most vibrant properties; Alyeska Resort, Alaska. As the Resort and Spa Revenue Manager, you will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing revenue generation and reservation distribution for the Alyeska Hotel and Nordic Spa. By proactively managing measured KPI’s and partnering with resort and spa leaders, you will achieve excellence to deliver optimal top-line revenue performance for all stakeholders. You will work closely with the Corporate Director of Revenue Management, Alyeska Director of Sales, and the Alyeska Nordic Spa General Manager to create and sustain a strategic decision-making culture based on effective data analysis. You will make business decisions that are focused on upholding the highest standards in guest service while delivering against key financial goals and performance metrics.

This role is based in Calgary, Alberta but will be required to work around AKDT business hours

 

Main Duties:

  • The position works very closely with the sales strategy team to develop the hotel’s sales strategy and ensure implementation. Identifies future revenue opportunities and effectively communicates strategies to the respective sales clusters.
  • Proactively manage inventory for the Alyeska Hotel and Nordic Spa to maximize top line room and spa revenue Execute analysis activities
  • Utilize and manage the resort’s revenue management system, IDeaS G3.
  • Executes inventory management activities in the given cluster. Responsible for managing rooms.
  • Accountable for preparing forecasts, budgets and projections to meet due dates.
  • Contributes to sales strategy, evaluates effectiveness, and prepares historical and future analysis of revenue and profit opportunities
  • Assist and consult with Sales, Marketing and other departments in the development and implementation of rates, packages, promotions, and special programs.
  • Ensure hotels adopt best business practices related to the use of the Property Systems.
  • Prepares block pick up and release reports and meets with Event sales team weekly to ensure accuracy of group and tour blocks
  • Analyze and review trends related to customer buying behavior and implement pricing tactics based on the analytics.
  • Support internal and external stakeholder requests for data and promptly resolve data related issues
  • Supervise and train staff on Property Management System, Internet delivery systems, standard operating procedures/policies, hotel orientation, room confirmation, package information, and selling techniques; including guest relations skills, rooms merchandising, and department specific responsibilities.
  • Oversee and track contracted Group and Wholesale reservations, working closely with Sales to consult on rates, room blocks and procedures as well as monitoring release dates and group activity, and attending weekly Resume meeting.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Director of Revenue Management, Pomeroy Lodging to enforce the high standard of Pomeroy's revenue optimization culture.
  • Maintain a partnership and collaborate with the Spa General Manager to communicate tactics and optimize execution.
  • Work closely with the Resort revenue team to identify cross-selling opportunities between resort and spa with the ultimate goal of maximizing resort-wide top line revenue.
  • Lead weekly revenue management calls to review the current state of the business as well as on-going and future strategies.
  • Monthly forecasting of top-line revenue projections.
  • Completion of month-end duties including top-line revenue commentary.
  • Managing the Spa PMS/POS system as it relates to data collection and reservation distribution.
  • Optimizing hotel and spa segmentation mix through data analysis and yield management.
  • Resolves guest situations in an efficient and effective manner.

 

Skills/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or hospitality management. Flexibility on equivalent work experience.
  • At least 2 years in a hospitality revenue management role.
  • Previous supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Business acumen and communication skills. Ability to present in a confident manner.
  • Hotel and/or Spa operations experience an asset.
  • Essential statistical and analytical skills required to identify revenue opportunities and shortfalls.
  • Strong understanding of hospitality sales, distribution, and strategies.
  • Highly computer literate with a high-level command of Excel. Power BI or other database software an asset
