We are looking for a Tourism Coordinator to join our growing organization.

This role is based out of the Pomeroy Lodging Corporate office in Calgary, Alberta, and offers an excellent compensation and benefits package.

As the Tourism Experience Coordinator your role will be to champion tourism through the administration of the Rural Discovery Destination Marketing Fund. The goal of the DMF is to promote tourism in locations Pomeroy Lodging does business which includes Alberta, BC and Alaska.  The Tourism initiatives will be designed to develop, support and Create tourism while increasing visitors to determined destinations. You will achieve excellence by acting as a facilitator and working with Tourism partners to maximize and enhance the Tourism experiences by coordinating applications, creating strategy, executing events and direction of the Board, acting as the Board of Directors Secretary and other administrative duties. The initiatives need to be strategic, well planned, widely marketed and flawlessly executed while keeping the guest’s brand experience and brand perception front of mind. Additionally, you will work with the local Tourism operators and act as a liaison between the RDDMF and the property

Skills/Abilities Include:

  • Possesses the interpersonal skills to interact effectively throughout the organization. Makes positive connections with those within and outside the organization that they must partner with to move the business forward.
  • Measures guest satisfaction and ROI through agreed participant/tourist feedback processes; compiling the data to create reports that identify opportunities for improvement and communicates those opportunities to all stakeholders.
  • Provide timely and concise feedback to the Board of Directors and hotels regarding outcomes of events and guest feedback.
  • Champions tourism events from planning to execution. Maximizing an optimal, enhanced experience for both the tourist and partner, while ensuring that each proprietary brand is appropriately represented.
  • Craft event review templates for each event or partnership that is focused on measuring the participant/tourist experience and brand integrity. In addition, you will work with Travel Alberta, Tourism BC and other Tourism outlets to market, and grow the Tourism activities. Produce written reports to fix what needs fixing and document best practices.
  • Collaborating with the RDDMF Board of Directors in the creation, delivery and execution of the exceptional Tourism experiences. Executing assigned tactics in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Assist with marketing initiatives as required; regular discussions with the Director of Community Relations to creatively and positively impact tourism experiences, marketing development and other tasks as needed.
  • Develops tourism Experience program and events. Inclusive of changes, additions, communication to the properties; acting as the gatekeeper of these events.

Education & Experience Required to be Successful

  • Experience in Tourism, Marketing and/or Event planning
  • Post-Secondary Tourism degree/diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Excellent listening, comprehension and communication skills required
  • Effective working skills with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, etc

Working Conditions

The Tourism Experience Coordinator will spend the majority of their time working out of the Calgary Regional Office. This position also requires some travel for brand events and Board meetings.
