We are excited to announce an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and dynamic finance professional to join our team as the Director of Finance for our two distinguished world-class resort properties: The Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge in Kananaskis, Alberta, and The Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska.

This high-impact role is at the heart of our financial operations, offering the chance to play a key role in shaping the future of our resorts. Your primary responsibilities will include developing robust financial strategies, overseeing budget management, and ensuring precise and timely financial reporting. We seek a visionary leader who excels in financial budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting and analysis, and effective financial operations and cash flow management. Your role will also encompass compliance, audit responsibilities, and team leadership, where your ability to mentor and guide will be crucial.

As the Director of Finance Resorts, you will assume a pivotal leadership position, guiding and administering the financial affairs of our two premier properties: The Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge in Kananaskis, Alberta, and The Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska. This vital role is central to safeguarding the financial well-being and advancing the prosperity of our resorts. You will be responsible for developing and executing financial strategies, overseeing budget management, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key Focuses

Financial Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with the executive team to set financial goals and targets.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to ensure accurate financial projections.
  • Create and maintain financial models for forecasting and analysis.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
  • Lead and implement regular reporting covering forecast, labour utilization, cheque book accounting, financial snapshots and other requirements as needed.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecasts, providing insights and operational performance indicators.
  • Conduct insightful financial analysis to support decision-making, cost control and process improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for communication of financial results property wide, maintaining strong culture of financial responsibility
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations for capital expenditure decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Financial Operations and Cash Flow Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Responsible for accuracy and monitoring of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Manage financial systems and accounting software including ERP (AccPac/Sage-300), PMS (Opera, MSI), POS (Maitre’D, RTP, Aspenware, Flaik, Clover retail) and Excel.
  • Monitor cash flow and manage cash reserves to ensure the resorts’ liquidity and financial stability.
  • Implement effective cash management strategies to optimize capital allocation.
  • Responsible for overseeing credit reporting, managing group payments, and monitoring outstanding accounts to ensure accuracy and financial integrity

Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, financial regulations and tax laws.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard resort assets and financial integrity.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and oversee the annual financial audits.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Hire, lead and mentor the resort finance teams, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability and professional growth.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for team members.
  • Work closely with departmental teams, including front office and F&B, to ensure effective coordination and communication.
  • Provide guidance and support to departmental teams on financial performance and best practices.

Experience/Passions/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation is a plus.
  • Proven experience in finance leadership roles, preferably in the hospitality or resort industry.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret financial data, perform financial analysis, and provide meaningful recommendations.
  • Proficiency in financial software applications and open to new learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations, standards, and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Working Conditions
This position may work long days and/or weekends to meet periodic upturns in business demands or meet deadlines. This detail-oriented and analytical position is set in a fast-paced environment with high levels of interaction with employees and other stakeholders. 

This position has the opportunity to accommodate a hybrid work model with a minimum of 2-3 days on-site at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge Resort. On-site travel to the Alyeska resort is required as needed.
