Summary

Join the Fort St. John (FSJ) Chances Casino team.  FSJ is the largest city in the Northeast Region of BC, situated on the Alaska Highway; its population is 21,000.  It offers a great variety of cultural, leisure, and outdoor experiences.

In this role, you will work under the supervision of the Executive Chef to ensure a memorable dining experience by helping the culinary team reach its commitment to a safe, clean and efficient operation.  You will take care of the cleaning and inspecting of flatware, tableware, and kitchen equipment and keep all the kitchen areas to a superior standard.  You will also support the flow of the kitchen operations by assisting with culinary preparations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure plates, cups, glasses, silverware, pots & all cooking utensils are cleaned using the appropriate machinery
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of stewarding kitchen areas. Remove garbage, and boxes from the kitchen as needed or at a minimum at the end of the shift
  • Work each shift with a safety mindset - be proactive in regards to front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house safety (food safety, potential hazards for employees or guests)
  • Ensure safe food handling procedures are followed 100% of the time
  • Prepare items to meet guest requests and prepare support items as required
  • Control waste and work to high efficiency with food ingredients
  • Consistently prepare ingredients, garnishes, sauces, etc., to ‘spec.’

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities Required:

  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work cohesively with colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to work in a high-paced, stressful environment and maintain a professional attitude
  • Must be highly Health and Safety conscious and dedicated to maintaining a safe work environment

Experience, Training, Certification and Education:

  • Previous stewarding/dishwashing or prep cook experience is an asset
