We are looking for a Marketing Manager to join our growing organization.

This role is based both out of our downtown Calgary office and up to three days on-site at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge. This role features an excellent compensation and benefits package.

Achieving Excellence

This role is based out of our Calgary Office, with a requirement to work from the resort 2 to 3 days per week. The Marketing Manager will look after portions of the Pomeroy Lodging portfolio, including Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge and Kananaskis Nordic Spa. Key responsibilities include contributing to marketing strategies aimed at revenue growth, execution of marketing strategies, marketing campaign development, managing creative, ongoing results analysis and reporting, creating strong tourism partnerships, including developing the Explore Kananaskis platform, and managing all social media and other digital channels. You will achieve excellence by building and engaging with key target audiences and executing effective strategies to promote long-term growth and position in the market for our brands.

Skills/Abilities Include:

  • Does not allow shortfalls to operating standards to go unaddressed; supported by clearly communicated expectations and real-time coaching.
  • Works with senior management to develop market strategies for new products and develops annual media plans and budgets both in relation to content creation and buying of media.
  • Strategizes and implements marketing tactics on various channels, including paid digital and traditional media, social media, company websites, and partner assets, within brand guidelines.
  • Comfortable presenting marketing plans, campaign results, and project recommendations to the senior management team.
  • Acts as an in-house content creator, regularly shooting photos and videos of key happenings and property ambiance for inclusion in the resort and spa social channels.
  • Provides support to the senior marketing team in coordinating professional photo shoots and liaising with multiple departments as needed to ensure smooth execution.
  • Engages and keeps up to date with social media channels, followers, and partners.
  • Builds, designs, and proofs email campaigns within CRM software.
  • Works with the PR agency and senior management to manage earned media strategy, support media communications, and coordinate media hosting.
  • Supports the creative needs of in-house teams, including Revenue, Sales, Food & Beverage, Recruiting, etc., or works with a creative agency for the execution of advanced graphic and web design work.
  • Executes light design work, such as website content updates via CMS, email builds, and signage design, to a professional standard.
  • Understands SEO, competitive analysis, keyword research, and content optimization.
  • Executes assigned deliverables in a manner that requires little or no follow-up regarding timeliness, scope, and quality.

Education & Experience required to be successful

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience an asset.
  • 4+ years' experience in a marketing role, including at least 2 years at manager level.
  • Travel and tourism experience; hotel experience is an asset.
  • Content creation skills, including photography (still, video, editing), copywriting, and light graphic design.
  • Minimum intermediate understanding of: Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Canva, Google Analytics, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including copywriting/editing.
  • Experience with event management, working with PR and creative agencies.

Working Conditions

Due to the 365-day, a year operation of the Resort, the Marketing Manager may be exposed to long shifts that at times include late hours, weekends, and holidays. This position is set in a fast-paced environment with high interaction levels with multiple platforms, software applications, outside partners, employees, and other stakeholders. The Marketing Manager will spend much time multitasking, competing priorities, and solving problems.  The role is based in two locations, our Calgary office and the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge resort.
