Job Title: FIRST COOK

We are recruiting for ten (10) First Cook positions (NOC 6322). The positions are full-time 30-40 hours per week, permanent with an hourly rate of $20.60.  Overtime may be necessary as required paid at time and half.

Job duties:

  • Operate individual station within the kitchen un-supervised, as trained/directed by supervisor
  • Prepare and cook complete meals, individual dishes and foods.
  • Plan and execute food preparation and cooking activities in a restaurant establishment.
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment, advise Chef de Partie of any concerns
  • Supervise activities of Second and Third Cooks.
  • May create new recipes with assistance of Chef de Partie.
  • Enforcing strict health and hygiene standards in the kitchen and follow the rules of health and safety.
  • Monitoring portion and waste control
  • Ensure that the production, preparation and presentation of food are of the highest quality at all times.
  • Ensure highest levels of food quality, and guest satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of all standard procedures and policies pertaining to food preparation, receiving, storage and sanitation.
  • Follow good preservation standards for the proper handling of all food products at the right temperature.
  • Flexible shift hours will be required. 

Employment Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • Completion of an apprenticeship program/Red Seal for cooks, and/or Completion of Culinary Management Diploma/degree, is an asset to this position
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial cooking experience
