Events Meeting Manager

As the Events Meeting Manger you will be responsible to work with the Sales and Operations team to book weddings, conferences and meetings.  You will be the champion of the coordination of meetings and events here at the Resort. This role is based at the Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska, and offers an excellent compensation and benefits package. 

Main Duties:

  • Respond to inquiries, leads and follow-up with various clients for further information
  • Key point of contact for any clients wanting to book short term meetings within 6 months or less with 40 rooms or less on the peak night.
  • Maintains existing group and conference accounts
  • Negotiates function space, minimum revenue commitment, food and beverage minimums and prices as well as hotel room rates
  • Initiate billing procedures, ensuring client credibility and that all deposits are received with adequate information and within an acceptable time frame. Responsible for reconciling final bills and invoices
  • Produce proposals and contracts based on the best business opportunities for the hotel. All contracts must be reviewed and approved by Director of Sales
  • Manages group room blocks
  • Coordinate services for groups and organizations of other events on hotel grounds by creating group resumes and Banquet Event Order’s (BEO)
  • Process contracts, manage group deposits in Opera, disseminate all information to front desk/reservations and accounting
  • Communicate with front desk and reservations regarding group rooming lists, special requests, VIPs, amenities, group arrivals/departures and key packets
  • Attend and participate in all BEO meetings, Resume meetings and pickup meetings
  • Participates in sales blitzes, attends industry events and trade shows to maximize hotel sales and revenues
  • Handles special projects assigned by the Director of Sales.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Hospitality or Sales preferred, from 4-year college or university
  • Or 1-2 years related experience or training
  • Or Equivalent combination of education and experience in Hotel/Resort reservations, sales, or related position
  • Must have strong skills n analytics and attention to detail
  • Microsoft Office computer literacy required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to delegate and handle multiple priorities
  • Self-Motivated and results oriented
