THIS JOB IS LOCATED IN GIRDWOOD, ALASKA. 

Main Duties:

  • The Supervisor assists the MLC Director and MLC Assistant Director in being responsible for all aspects of the MLC including daily operational activities, managing & motivating all employees, all MLC Ski, Snowboard & Nordic programs, and utilizing the RTP system.
  • The Supervisors will assist the Directors in implementing new programs and resort services and helping to continue the growth and development of the MLC.
  • Maintain good relations and working knowledge concerning local school districts, marketed special events and industry wide Snow Sports School protocols.
  • Assist and work with the MLC Desk on scheduled days in regards to reservations and student/instructor numbers.
  • Assist the Director with liaising and problem solving with guests to help meet their needs.
  • Ensure that morning setup and tear down is complete and Wades Way magic carpet is operational.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements:

  • Must have extensive and advanced knowledge of the Snow Sports Industry, specifically pertaining to Snow Sports School, Ticket Office/Snow Sports School Reservations, Host, Events, and Rental/Repair programs and operations.
  • At least 3 years full time experience working in a Snow Sports School.
  • Must have PSIA/AASI Level 2 Certification, or equivalent (Level 3 is preferred).
  • High School Diploma Required.
  • Must have previous experience in a supervisory or managerial position.
  • Working knowledge of RTP.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel).
  • Must maintain a neat, clean and well groomed appearance and present a good image.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to solve problems with customers quickly and efficiently.
  • Keep employees informed of upcoming groups and events.
  • Ability to apply basic supervisory skills to plan, and direct employees as necessary.
  • Able to coordinate and cooperate with other departments.

 

  • Physical demands and work environment:  Must be physically able to safely navigate all in-bounds areas in all weather and snow conditions.  You will be required to ski/snowboard and talk for extended periods of time.  Must be able to perform continuously for an 8+ hour shift.  Lifting heavy objects (no more than 50 pounds), bending, twisting and shoveling may be required.  You will be required to stand and walk safely on uneven terrain.  Employee may be required to pass a functional capacity test developed for this job.
  • Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the noise in this work environment is usually moderate.  Physical terrain in the work environment can be uneven with poor traction; there is ice and snow outside and wet floors in doors.  Outside temperatures can be extremely cold and wet.
