Hiking and Biking Trail Crew 

Main Duties:

  • Assists in the design, construction, and maintenance of all the hiking and biking trails on resort property.
  • Ensures that all trails are maintained per Hiking & Biking supervisors and Mountain Managements instructions.
  • Places signage at appropriate locations to ensure riders/hikers are made aware of trail conditions.
  • Must work well with all other resort departments. Must be respectful of all guests and employees of Alyeska Resort.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements:  To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Advanced to expert level mountain biker
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid Alaska Driver’s License
  • Ability to operate ATV and pickup truck on mountain roads.
  • Ability to use various hand tools. Pulaski, pick, shovel, rake, handsaw, hammer etc…
  • Ability to run small gas/pneumatic/electric powered tools. Chainsaw, brush cutter, compactor, power wheel barrow, rotor-hammer etc….
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions

Employee may be required to pass a functional capacity test developed for this job. 
  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.  The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment can be loud.  Physical terrain in the work environment can be uneven with poor traction; there is ice and snow outside, and wet floors indoors.
