Job Description

As the Spa Maintenance Supervisor, you are responsible for assisting the Regional Hydrotherapy Facilities Manager in the overall maintenance of Kananaskis Nordic Spa and ensuring our high standard of water in all of our pools and hot tubs. You will assist in leading the department to ensure all mechanical systems, pools and facilities are operating in accordance with our brand standards.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • To assist the Facilities Manager in overseeing all major mechanical, electrical and plumbing throughout the spa, ensuring that all systems are fully operational and minimize downtime
  • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of the Pools and Hot tubs and ensure compliance with regulations set forth by Alberta health as it relates to pool water quality.
  • Coordinate and prioritize the distribution of work orders and preventative maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and tile repair
  • Assist with development and lead implementation of a preventative maintenance program which ensure the longevity of all equipment and facilities, including the monitoring and tendering of all service contracts
  • Keep guest satisfaction top of mind by responding to maintenance issues, problem solving and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitor, track and update all checklists, inventory and work logs for all facility operations equipment and supplies
  • Train, motivate and supervise maintenance/pool facilities staff to ensure performance and excellent service standards are achieved.
  • Ensure the highest level of communication between leadership, operations team and the maintenance team. This includes but is not limited to, deficiencies, daily pass on and email communication follow up.
  • “Hands on” and “Lead by example” approach with day to day maintenance and pool operations duties and/or projects as required.
  • Ensure Health and Safety is a top priority for all staff. Proper PPE and processes are followed at all times
  • Assume all the responsibilities and authority of the Regional Hydrotherapy Facilities Manager in their absence, including regular days off and vacation
  • Coordinate with the internal and external agencies or vendors for repair and maintenance work.
  • Complete administration tasks such as but not limited to payroll, scheduling, recruiting and inventory management.
  • Ensures that all operations are conducted in compliance with all environmental legislation and approved policies and procedures.
  • Any other job or duties assigned by the KNS Leadership as and when required.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a leadership role with strong knowledge and understanding of the engineer and maintenance process
  • Strong knowledge of pool operations, mechanical, carpentry and electrical services.
  • Experience in preventative maintenance, fire safety and health and safety
  • Proficient in Windows, PMS and MS Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to quickly align with shifting priorities, work assignments and timelines.
  • Able to train, coach and develop team members in an entrepreneurial and progressive environment
  • Post secondary education in a related field a definite asset including:
    • Pool Operations Certification
    • Building Operators Certification
    • Building maintenance Level 1 and 2
    • Confined space certificate
    • Diploma or degree in engineering related trades. Along with certification in related fields.

Working Conditions

    • Willingness and ability to work outside in all seasons and in all weather conditions as required.
